The digital industry in the Whitsundays is almost non existent. By implementing the hub we are opening up a whole new world of opportunity. Not only will it optimise business workflow but it has the potential to create jobs in the process. Not everybody is digitally inclined, and that's ok, there are a whole bunch of kids out there that are great with computers and need jobs. The demographics show that when teenagers are leaving school they are also preparing to leave town. Unfortunately if you're not interested in farm work or tourism then there isn't a lot of career opportunity available in the region.

Hire kids to come do the digital work for your business, all they need to do is learn how to use the platform (easy peasy), get an ABN to become a freelancer and we now have a whole new range of employment opportunities for young people or professionals coming to the area.

Hidden opportunity

I have 4 kids and living in Bowen I have thought many times about what they will do when they get older. I have spoken to teenagers around and not only is there very little diversity in work opportunities, but if they would like to pursue a career something different they are practically on their own. A digital business environment like the hub gives people the chance to explore many different business possibilites. There is a high demand for all sorts of new businesses around here, offering the basic tools needed to streamline starting your own business will enable people to not just have an idea, but to act on it.

In fact, starting a new business couldn't be easier, not only by using the new business tools in the hub but having access to the local network and getting all the support required from the community to take off with a bang!

Work with me

If this all goes to plan then there is going to be lots of employment opportunites working with me. This will be a company with the sole purpose of helping the local business community. Not just by asking you to be a member and doing nothing for your business, but actually sitting down from a digital consulting perspective and figuring out the best way forward for your company. I will need people to help me do this so there will be lots of local jobs on offer.
